Caterpillar announced Platinum Equity has acquired a majority interest in its Logistics Services for about 750 million dollars. Cat will retain a 35-percent equity stake in the business.  Platinum plans to re-brand the business and make it a standalone company. Cat officials say the sale will not impact its manufacturing logistics, transportation operations, or brand parts distribution. Those services will continue to be housed within Cat Logistics.
