The Peoria-area unemployment rate in June experienced an increase from the two previous months of this year. The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports the area’s rate at seven-point-nine-percent. That’s a one-percent increase from May. April’s unemployment rate was just over seven-percent. But the number of jobless claims from June of last year decreased about one-percent. 45-hundred jobs were added year over year with the most gains in manufacturing.
