The Citizens Utility Board is offering area residents tips on saving energy amid the heat wave. CUB officials were at a senior health fair in Metamora sharing ways to cut people’s utility bills and answering questions. Rajiv Ravulapati is with CUB. He says people’s electricity bills are highest in the summer: “If you have central air or an AC unit…try and make sure it’s an Energy Star rated unit not if it’s like an old one,” Ravulapati says.
“Those ones work much more efficiently. Keeping your thermostat at somewhere between 78 and 80 degrees. That’s just like the optimal range where people find themselves to be most comfortable.
Ravulapati also says residents can find additional tips at CubEnergySaver.com Residents also got their questions answered about the energy-purchasing program that Metamora and other area communities joined earlier this year.
