A more than 110-year old family-owned East Peoria business is expanding. Peoria Brick and Tile broke ground on a new facility in Mossville. The company began as a manufacturer of brick until 1982 and then moved into the retail business selling masonry and landscaping items. That location will remain open.

The new building will include a 15-hundred square foot showroom and a 27-thousand square foot warehouse. Kevin Reece is the Vice President of Peoria Brick and Tile. He says Mossville is a good location to build a second store.

"We looked at several locations, but with Route 6 and 29, I mean it's just very convenient for our customers that are coming from the Dunlap and Chillicothe area for them to hit that location," says Reece.

Reece says the new store will be primarily a retail landscaping yard and show room. The company is expected to hire up to four people initially to run the facility. It’s expected to open next March.
