The Peoria Riverfront Museum is nearly complete about three months from opening. Workers will begin installing exhibits in the coming weeks.  That will include the Illinois River Gallery exhibit funded in part with a $500,000 gift from ADM.   Jim Richerson is the President and CEO of the museum. He says ADM’s contribution will help boost the experience of the exhibit:

“The Illinois River is a working and a living river,” Richerson says.

“So looking at holistically, certainly the idea of how we understand siltation, how the river functions the lock and dam system, that’s important for all of us to understand.  Clearly ADM is an important user of the river and understands its richness both as an environment but also as a highway for industry.”

The museum is scheduled to open October 20th.  The much anticipated museum includes other gallery exhibits, a power dome digital planetarium, and the giant screen digital theater. The Caterpillar Visitors Center that shares the block is to open the same day. At least 300 people have worked on the construction of the museum.
