The property tax bill for the owner of a 100-thousand dollar home in Tazewell County is now believed to be 100-dollars less this year than usual. Tazewell County Clerk Christie Webb says an error in the clerk’s office applied a lower property tax rate for Illinois Central College than her office reported in May. She says that resulted in about four million dollars less property tax revenue to ICC. It’s nearly twice the amount calculated two months ago. Webb says the County plans to loan ICC the four-million-dollars this year to cover costs. She says to make up the difference, individual homeowners can expect to see a 50-dollars increase in property taxes for the next two years. Tazewell County administration says the county’s daily operations and financial stability will not be impacted by the loan. |
