The third annual Flint Knap-in is going on at Fort Creve Coeur. The park and campsite in Creve Coeur is home to a replica of the Fort French explorer LaSalle and his men built in 1680. The event demonstrates how primitive arrowheads, spears and other weapons were crafted by people in that era. Ted Snider is organizing the Flint Knap-in event. He says there are a variety of things to do and see at the historic park Friday and Saturday.
“There are plenty of people to identify artifacts people have found locally,” Snider says.
“We can typically age them and tell you where they came from, what type of stone they are made of and a little bit about how they were used and potentially even what the value of them might be.”
Snider says other primitive skills will also be demonstrated. He says the event is free and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Snider says 100 percent of the proceeds go to support the Fort Creve Coeur Park.
