The air in the Peoria region is expected to be unhealthy for sensitive groups today. That’s due to ground-level ozone levels according to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission’s Clean Air Action Program has issued an Ozone Alert for today. That means area residents are encouraged to reduce pollutants in the air by minimizing or eliminating driving, refueling vehicles only in the evening, and not running lawnmowers. The Clean Air Action Program was rolled out in 2008. Only one other Ozone Alert has been issued since then on May 19th of this year. |
