Caterpillar studying ways to upgrade headquarters in Peoria

Caterpillar is looking for ways to update its world headquarters.  The company is studying the facilities layout and technological needs of its Administration building and other downtown facilities.  Cat spokesperson Rusty Dunn says the company’s headquarters opened in 1967 at a time of rotary phones, typewriters and paper memos:

“While that was very modern and state of the art at the time, we have to look now toward the long-term future,” Dunn says.

“So we thought the timing is right with exploring those options for what our headquarters and headquarters footprint might look like in the future in Peoria.”

Dunn says the world headquarters and other area buildings got many technological upgrades over the years.  But Dunn says this is the first in-depth study the company is conducting for those buildings. Caterpillar hopes to share results from the study later this year.  Caterpillar is also set to open its new Visitors Center in October along with the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
