Unemployment rate falls for Peoria area

 The Peoria Metropolitan area continues to see a decrease in the number of people without jobs. The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports the unemployment rate was6.9 percent in May. That’s slightly down from April and a nearly one-percent reduction from March. It’s also about one-percent less than the same time last year. The area has gained about 4,900 jobs compared to May of last year with the biggest increases in manufacturing, professional-business services, and educational-health services.
