A fire at Caterpillar’s East Peoria facility was put out within an hour. The fire began at around 10:45 this morning at an empty building on the site. Smoke and fire could be seen billowing out a smokestack. Caterpillar Fire and Rescue personnel, East Peoria, Peoria and Creve Coeur Fire Departments responded to the scene. The building, CC3, was in the process of being torn down. No one was injured and production was not affected.
