The Peoria Public Library Lincoln Branch is commemorating the end of slavery in the United States with a Juneteenth Celebration. Juneteenth began in Galveston, Texas in 1865 when it was announced slaves had been emancipated. The Lincoln library branch will host a celebration this evening from 6:30 to 8 that includes poetry, drama, singing, and finger snapping.  The program is free and open to the public.
