The District 150 school board unanimously approved renewing its contract with Superintendent Grenita Lathan.  Peoria Public Radio’s Alex Rusciano reports the four-year deal includes a pay increase:

Lathan’s new contract begins July 1st and runs through June 2016.  It includes a roughly 2.5 percent pay increase, taking her salary to $203,000 per year.  The contract also allows Lathan to receive up to $10,000 in bonus pay.  The Board already approved half the incentive.  Board president Linda Butler says Lathan could get a second $5,000 bonus depending on I-SAT testing results:

“And I think there are those that are more comfortable with being able to have these scores behind us when we do that in the fall depending on what those scores are,” Butler says.

“So that’s really the difference.  It’s not to say that we value her work any less, it’s to say we still value her, but we’re just trying to do things strategically.”

The new agreement replaces the third and final year of Lathan’s current contract.  The Board also approved a contract with Sodexo to provide district-wide food service starting this summer.
