UICOMP stroke fellowship receives accreditation

The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria is adding to its list of accredited fellowships. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education recently awarded the school the formal designation for its stroke fellowship program. The program has been in existence for six year. UICOMP and local hospital officials say the status will help attract the nation’s best neurologists to Peoria to train and provide additional care and research toward stroke. Those who’ve just completed a residency program in neurology or child neurology can apply to get the one-year fellowship. Selected fellows take part in research and care of stroke patients. The fellowship accreditation is the sixth for UICOMP.
