Goodwill opens new store

The Goodwill store on University Street is now open for business. The new location is double the size of the now closed War Memorial location. It includes a drive-through drop off area in addition to the retail store.

Patty Fuchs is the CEO of Goodwill industries. She says the move will be more convenient for many customers.

“The War Memorial Drive location probably was convenient for a few people that did walk, but this is much more convenient for everyone that has transportation to get here. Plus, we were very careful to make sure it was on a bus line,” says Fuchs.

The store is one of nine serving Central Illinois. Goodwill board members and employees celebrated with a ribbon cutting to formally open the new location. The opening includes raffle drawings and gift certificate giveaways today and tomorrow.
