Quest improves on test scores, accepts $300,000 loan

Quest Charter Academy is showing improvement in test scores in reading, math and science.  Peoria Public Radio’s Alex Rusciano reports that’s according to preliminary Achievement test numbers:

The latest numbers show Quest students met or exceeded academic achievement standards in 80-percent of all test categories.  That’s a one percent increase from last year.  Principal Engin (AIN-gin) Blackstone says all students scored five-percent better in reading and two-percent better in Math compared to last year, and outpacing 5th through 8th graders District 150-wide. He says the preliminary numbers come as the school continues to add new students:

“We added 100 new students and still maintained the score even adding a couple percentage to each,” Blackstone says.

“So we are maintaining new students coming in, getting them into the system and plus still making the progress, that’s what we see.  It’s not huge significant progress, its not five to ten percent, but again 100 students is one third of the population that’s new in this building.”

The Quest Board also approved a $3.6 million budget for next school year.  That’s in addition to accepting a $300,000 loan from Board Chairman Glen Barton. It’s a ten year note with a floating IRS interest rate.
