About two dozen Peoria City leaders and residents took a bit of field trip Wednesday. The goal was to see a city where Roundabouts are already in action. The destination was Carmel Indiana: a town of about 82,000 people and 80 roundabouts. It’s known as the nation’s capital for the circular-type of intersection. That’s in contrast to where the idea stands in Peoria. The concept of roundabouts has caused something of a stir. There are five such interchanges either under construction, planned or being considered in Peoria and one nearly open in East Peoria’s new downtown.
