Peoria area unemployment rate falls in April

The Peoria Metropolitan area continues to see a decrease in the number of people without jobs. The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports the unemployment rate was 7.1% in April. That’s a less than 1% drop from March and a nearly 2% reduction from February. It’s also about 1% less than the same time last year. The area has gained about 5200 jobs compared to April of last year with the biggest increases in manufacturing, professional-business services, and educational-health services.
