The peoria Police Department and Peoria County Sheriff’s Office are holding services this week in observance of police week. The services honor those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
Captain Jerry Mitchell has been with the Peoria Police Department for 22 years. He says the event brings back memories of those he’s worked with who’ve died on the job. Mitchel says when the names are read, “especially those of Christy Tindall and Jim Faulkner it brings back those nights and those memories are fresh.”
Peoria Police officers and Sheriff’s Deputies who’ve made significant contributions to the community throughout the last years were also recognized during the ceremonies.
