The head of Mitt Romney's presidential campaign in Illinois says he's thrilled with the selection of Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan as running mate. Speaking to reporters in Bloomington, Dan Rutherford said the selection of Ryan should re-energize Romney's base: "I think that there are those that are supporting Mitt Romney, but now with the Congressman as a part of the ticket, may go that extra invigorating energy to put into the campaign,” Rutherford says.
“They would have voted for him but now maybe they may want to go out and help him even more."
Rutherford, Illinois' State Treasurer, says Ryan compliments the ticket and puts the focus on the economy. Despite Wisconsin's close proximity to Illinois, Rutherford says he's not sure that will have much of an electoral impact on the process.
