A bevy of road changes proposed for the Northern portion of Peoria will be the subject of a meeting next week. The proposed changes are for an area of Peoria that was annexed into the city in the last 10 years and in some cases it also straddles a Peoria/Dunlap boarder. The proposals include adding turn lanes for access to Allen Road from Townline. Other major proposed changes include the addition of up to three roundabouts at the intersections of Randor Road and Alta Lane, Allen and Hickory Grove Roads and potentially Orange Prairie and Route 91. The plans for the proposed upgrades were created by the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Peoria City staff.
But 5th District Peoria City Councilman Dan Irving says the plans were created without his knowledge or citizen input. He says its important for residents of his District to have a say in the proposals. The public hearing is 6:00 Tuesday, February 21st at Northwoods Community Church.
