PRM Board nearing fundraising goal

Members of the Peoria Riverfront Museum Board say they are ahead of schedule on fundraising and construction efforts for the project. The museum board recently gave an update to a county board committee that oversees the plan. Museum officials say they are more than 60-percent done with the construction of the facility due to warmer winter weather.

The group is also under 700-thousand dollars away from raising ten million dollars for the endowment fund. Dave Ransburg is the Chairman of the Museum Board. He says the organization wants to complete its fundraising efforts within the next 90 days.

"There are grants that are available that the staff thinks we might get. There are some things called New Market Tax Credits which we think we have a chance to get, and then there's the old fashion way which is begging and pleading," says Ransburg.

Another way the museum board intends to raise money is by encouraging people to be part of a Community Art Tile Program. By donating 25 dollars, area residents can create artwork or provide a photograph that will be reproduced on six-by-six textured glass tile. Those tiles will be permanently displayed in the classroom corridor of the new museum. More information is available by contacting Lakeview Museum.
