The Peoria International Airport had a record-breaking July for passengers last month. More than 54,000 passengers traveled through the airport in July. Airport Director Gene Olson says the record-breaking month reflects recent changes at the airport: “If you compare July of this year to July of last year the big difference is we have Atlanta and Punta Gorda,” Olson says.
“If you take those two cities out of the mix then we just had kind of an average month.”
Last month’s number beats the previous record from 2008 by about 1,400 people. Olson says the airport’s direct flights to ten destinations and more business travel are other reasons for the boost in ridership. |
