Latest Peoria homicide being investigated as break-in

The second homicide of the year also happens to be the second woman killed in her home in the city this week. The first murder was allegedly the result of a domestic dispute. Thursday’s shooting death of Denise Leuthold is being investigated as a break-in at her home in the quiet 700 block of West Mossville Road. A statement from the Peoria Police Department says there were signs of forced entry and portions of the house had been rummaged.
Leuthold’s silver Ford Focus was also missing from the home and was found a short time later parked about a half mile away in Robinson Park.  Denise Leuthold lived with her husband and children.
Peoria Police are asking anyone in the area yesterday/Thursday who may have information about any suspicious person, vehicle or activity to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
