Illinois American Water celebrates $24 million plant upgrade

The Illinois American Water Company’s new upgrade at its Peoria treatment plant is now complete. The $24 million dollar project improves the current water disinfection system and a new U-V disinfection system.
Doug Tennis is with Illinois American Water. He says the updates help ensure water availability at the historic plant.
"We have more capacity at our plants now, so if there's a problem at one plant we can increase capacity or production at another plant, so the supply is more reliable."
Upgrades to the 120-year-old plant will also help meet new standards from the Environmental Protection Agency.
