The shuttered Hanna City work camp has been gathering dust – and weeds – for more than a decade in Peoria County. The nearly 40-acre piece of land was built as a radar base for the Air Force in the 1950s. It then became an adult corrections center and work camp. Peoria County acquired the land three years ago, and is still searching for the best way to use it. Peoria Public Radio’s Alex Rusciano reports local and state officials in sustainable agriculture are taking an interest in the site and recently toured it. |
