A broad based collaboration of law enforcement, prosecutors, and others in Peoria are working to reduce gun violence. The group is launching the Don’t Shoot initiative as part of the National Night Out Against Crime. The annual National Night Out event aims to bring neighborhoods, businesses and social service agencies together with the goal of getting residents involved in crime prevention. It’s the venue to introduce the Don’t Shoot campaign as those involved say it will take community involvement to tackle gun crimes in the city. Peoria Public Radio’s Denise Molina reports.
