Bradley Students lend a hand

Bradley students head to class on Wednesday. But about 200 students already participated in a Welcome Week Service Project. The students volunteered three or four hours at a variety of places around Peoria Monday. Habitat for Humanity, The Salvation Army, and Common Place were some of the organizations that received the volunteer services. Connie Voss is with Common Place. She says about 20 Bradley students helped them prepare for their after school programs. “ What they did in two or three hours time would have taken two or three days for the staff members. It was just wonderful. They just jumped right in and they got it all done.”
Bradley Students are not required to do volunteer hours.  But the Bradley’s Service on Saturdays program was so successful last year that the Center for Student Leadership and Public Service decided to offer the welcome week service project. The Service on Saturdays effort also continues this school year. Once a month Bradley students volunteer at a variety of locations in the community.
