Ameren Illinois hosted an open house to get community input on a transmission line project. It was the first of three meetings on the proposed line between the Fargo substation and a new Mapleridge substation in Peoria County. Peggy Ladd is with Ameren. She says the meetings allow residents to get involved with the process: “First off we have to explain the needs and benefits,” Ladd says.
“Why do we even want to do this line? We got to make sure that people understand and agree with it. We also want to tell you how we’re going to build the line, we want to tell you what the regulatory process is, we want to share all this information.”
The line is estimated to reach twenty miles long. The project’s anticipated end-date is 2016. The next open house to discuss potential line locations is set for October. More information is available at FargoTransmission.com. |
